This happens when I try to mommyblog…

I used to have an adorable/tedious night time routine with Four. Lately Husband does a lot of the bedtime routine, as I tend to the twins: LTYM Show and ASUS Laptop.

The other night, however, I did something I normally avoid–imaginary play with Four (I’m more the story-reading, leave them to their own devices, Uno-if-necessary parent).

So Four wears his blanket like a cape and dubs himself The King. He invites me to play his Queen:

    “MY QUEEN! MY QUEEN!”

    “Yes My King”

“LET’S GO BATTLE. YOU CAN USE YOUR CRUMPLE UPS POWER.”

    “Umm..Yo crumple up crumple up.”

“NO CRUMPLE UPS GO LIKE THIS: (machine gun spray sound-effect, sunburst arms, CLAP!) CRUMPLE UP CRUMPLE UP!”

“But My King, I am missing the genetic make up for those awesome sound effects, My King.”

“I AM THE KING AND I SAY WHAT TO DO AND YOU DO IT”

“Not in this Kingdom, My King. ”

    “BUT I AM THE KING”

“YO KING? CRUMPLE UP CRUMPLE UP” (sunburst arms, CLAP!, machine gun-ish sound)…

Four reacts with fancy battle/Capoeira moves.

“MY QUEEN NOW IT’S TIME FOR US TO SLEEP. THIS IS WHERE YOU SLEEP.” Four pats space next to him on bed.

“I love you my king.” I go in for a hug.

“I love you my queen.” loud/wet preschooler-in-your-eardrum whisper.

“Goodnight my King.” I stand to leave…

    “MY QUEEN!”

“Goodnight. It’s time for bed. Now.”

“MY QUEEN! YOU HAVE TO SLEEP WITH ME OR I WILL KILL YOU”

    1. LTYM. It’s gonna be so awesomely awesome. I wish that I could be there, man. I will be applauding from Georgia. Hugs to you and to Lisa for the L.A. show!

    2. This is why it’s so much fun being the mom to a little boy. I can’t get enough of this stuff, really. Even if it means bedtimes of 10 p.m. every night and waking up with little toes in my face.

    3. I don’t have those noises down either. Boo! I have tried, but I just can’t get it. I wish I could join you all at these fun shows. I would love to meet you in person. One of these days…

    4. I used to play Queen with my daughters. My version was more like Carol Brunet, wacky British accent and all, and I used to biff them with my ‘staff’.

      Great Fun!!

    5. Really, the sunburst / machine gun fire takes the cake. My queen, how do you live with so much royalty in your life?

Good luck with LTYM! Thinking of you.
