My brilliant bloggy friend Tarja, a conceptual humor genius and recent conceptional human genius just had a baby boy named Chimichanga– “Chimi” for short. Sweet right? Her older son The Flying Chalupa has a baby brother! Ethnic names are in.
We all know how hard it is to prepare meals post-partum, so I thought—given my expertise and renown in food blogging circles—I might share some recipes from my college roommates’ boyfriends circa 1994. So easy. So delicious. All ingredients found at your nearest convenience store/gas station. Hyper local, Dude.
EASY AND DELICIOUS RECIPES FROM MY COLLEGE ROOMMATE’S BOYFRIEND CIRCA 1994:
1. Own a wok.
2. Cook everything in a wok.
3. Stirfry is just like frying. It’s so good, Man. Get a wok.
CLIFF HANGER! (read the rest here)
Thanks for having me Tarja and congratulations again!
Love,
La Imig. Like La Choy, only saltier.
Cliffhanger! Oh, La Choy, you make me laugh. Thank you so much for your culinary, sodium-filled genius.
Love, La Chalupa
This post really had me smiling. Which is a holiday miracle in light of the facial swelling from my mother-in-law’s post-Thanksgiving turkey soup.
Sodium? What sodium?
Top Ramen should hire Jane Gardner.
No joke.
Very funny– the cream cheese cracked me up. I’m pretty sure I’ve tried that too.

You lost me at bologna hats. I may never use a wok again which will be easy since I got rid of mine sometime back in the 90s.
I’ve had nightmares about the bologna hats. And the hardened cream cheese. *shudder*
I love a wok mostly because it’s the only pan I own.
I feel like I have neglected an entire realm of food possibilities and cooking techniques! Thank you for helping me see the light!
Wait, is the Chalupa your friend? I love her! And you, of course. Lunch in the New Year? The nachos at 7-11 are especially good!
Did I just land in a parallel universe……?
Genius…as always. 🙂
