The best valentines do not necessarily arrive in Godiva boxes or flower vases. Last week Almost-Five presented me with token of his love. Keep in mind, none of the other parents got one. Only me…
Its a dirty snow ball.
He brought it in from the playground.
He preserved it in a zip-lock.
Its still in my freezer.
(swoon!)

And In related valentines’ themed news, I just bid adieu to my last b-cup bra.
Requiem for A Bra (ahem..clearing throat)
A TJ Maxx purchase of Calvin Kline
Such a good price, such sophisticated design.
Charcoal grey, with a smattering of lace
supportive, yet wireless
you kept everything in place.
What once took to plumping
now tends to slumping
and therefore I bid thee farewell
I hand you to Mimi
who still fits a 34-B
but after weening only time will tell.
Happy Valentines Day, friends!
I lost 14 pounds a couple of years ago and went from a B to an A. Each year, on Memorial Day, we take a moment to remember the B.
Great post! Are you going to keep the dirty snowball forever and ever?
Woah i love dirty snowball!! That has to be the bestest valentines day pressie eva!!!
Almost five year old knows his stuff!!!
And farewell to bra!!!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU ANN! I LOVE YOU!!!
how sweet of your son! I just wonder what thought when through his mine when he decided that would be a good present. I hope that doesn’t give his future wife a look into the future. “Happy Valentines day honey, I am giving you my bug collection from when I was a boy”
Your poem was awesome
How sweet of him!!

Dirty snowballs? Hey, it’s better than plain old dirty balls.
Ahahaha… I’m LOL at Bella’s “dirty balls”.
Seriously, I thought that was a raw chicken breast in that bag. And speaking of breasts, awesome poem!!! Oh, how I’d love to be an A cup! I haven’t been an A since 6th grade!
I’m sure you got a dirty snowball only cuz the dandelions aren’t in season.
I also LOL’d at Bella’s dirty balls. And Rachel? Nice segue. Subtle. 🙂
Now that’s what I call love!
The snowball could be referred to as ice which is another name for a diamond so your little guy is on the road to being a regular Diamond Jim.
Beth, so sorry for your loss.
Michelle, he’s a charmer all right. You too, babe!
Dizz, Thanks so much. Of course his wife will never appreciate him like I do (just practicing my MIL speak)
Thinking of you, thanks for coming over!
Bella. ewwwwwww. I’ll take snowballs anyday.
Rachel, me either. Lucky me.
Mo, Dandelions are underrated.
Joanie, I know! 😉
Oh, what a good boy!
As for your poem, you might want to send that to Hallmark or some forward-thinking greeting card company. I would SO buy that card…

Wow the B cup poem hit home. I was a sexy DD (a la Jessica Simpsom) Then I lost weight and am now a Small C (Damn it!) I gained the weight back and now have a booty, so I guess it all evened out in the end!
OH no. 🙁 Seriously…? B will turn to A?? I might cry.
Godiva, snow gifts, and bra odes? Ann, baby, you’re amazing…
that is a nicer gift than I’ve gotten from any guy in the last 4 years. He’s a keeper
Looks like dirty heroin to me…but I’m glad you got a nice gift.
Thanks for the post
Aww… you know that meant a lot to him! Very sweet!
I’ve been depressingly excited to be bordering on a 34B. What giveth can be taketh away …
A dirty snowball? Sweet.
Aww .. what a sweet and poignant post!
Dirty snowballs are very useful gifts. Very versatile: Injured? Instant ice pack. Thirsty? Melt it. Lacking in minerals? Lick it. Annoying kid? Throw it.
Very sorry to hear about your loss, saying farewell to a bra is always an emotional moment…
I gave up on bras forever ago. Now it’s tank tops or BUST, baby!
(Get it? BUST? No?)
(crickets chirping)
Oh what a boy. I would put him on freeze forever Mom. Great poem, loved it!
Sentiment worthy of Catullus.
Bras suck and so do post nursing boobs (OK mine fall through the bottom now). I’m linking over here so more bloggers can learn about this issue.
OMG you reminded me of the post birth boob trauma (?!?!?!?where ARE they?!?!?!)The dirty snowball is a delightful and heartfelt gift. Your appreciation is noted, good mother.
